AFC Wimbledon are interested in signing Portsmouth midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe, according to reports.

The 29-year-od is deemed surplus to requirements at Fratton Park and this could pave the way for a move to Johnnie Jackson’s Dons.

Wimbledon saw midfielder Luke McCormick leave to join Bristol Rovers yesterday and although they added Harry Pell, according to The News, they are potentially also looking at Ryan Tunnicliffe.

The Dons hae made a solid, if unspectacular start, to the 2022/23 season and will be hoping they can add a bit more experience to their young squad ahead of the 01 September transfer deadline.

Harry Pell was brought in from Accrington following the departure of McCormick but if they could also add Tunnicliffe, it would give the League Two side some excellent options for the season ahead.

Portsmouth have plenty of options in midfield and it is widely expected that a couple of players, most likely Kieron Freeman and Ryan Tunnicliffe, could depart Fratton Park before the end of the summer.

The former Luton, Millwall and Fulham man is thought to have interest from abroad including clubs in MLS and Australia, but AFC Wimbledon would be a good option for the former Manchester United academy product.

Jackson has brought in some experienced campaigners this summer to help the young players in the side develop and thrive. The likes of Chris Gunter and Alex Pearce have played at a higher level and Tunnicliffe would be another player in this mould.

The Dons beat Crawley last time out in League Two giving them two wins, two draws and one defeat to start their 2022/23 season. They face Barrow at Plough Lane this weekend.
