The second round of the FA Cup is here and D3D4 offers some predictions ahead of the weekend’s action…

AFC Fylde v Wigan

The magic of the cup is back starting on Friday night for this match up. Will be a great atmosphere but I can’t see an upset. Wigan have got all the talent to dominate League One so I think Fylde will have their work cut out Prediction away win

Notts County v Oxford City

Love what City did at Colchester in the last round but they will find Meadow Lane a much tough prospect. County have shown a ruthless edge this season that has seen them competing at the top of League Two. Great to see City get this far let’s hope they enjoy their day Prediction home win

Bradford v Plymouth Argyle

Bradford dominated the league encounter at Valley Parade but lost 1-0. I think they will take the lessons from that game and make sure they win here Prediction home win

Fleetwood v Hereford

Great to see Hereford back in the FA Cup and playing Fleetwood will be a tough game but this is the magic of the cup. The Cod army struggled in the last round so hoping for an upset here Prediction away win

Forest Green v Exeter

This will be an interesting match up in an all League Two affair. I like what I have seen of Forest Green in recent games but think that Exeter are the better side. Prediction draw

Gillingham v Carlisle

Can Carlisle replicate their first round effort by knocking out another League One opposition? I am doubtful as Lovell has the Gills looking like a completely different team than the one that started the season so badly under Pennock. Prediction home win

MK Dons v Maidstone

Would love to see the Kent outfit progress after knocking out League Two Cheltenham in round one but MK Dons have a ruthless side which they showed in the last round. The Buckinghamshire outfit won’t have it all their own way but I see them having enough to progress Prediction home win

Port Vale v Yeovil

This will be a tough game for the Glovers and a perfect opportunity for Aspin to re-ignite Vale after they have looked a bit flat in the last few games. Yeovil don’t travel well but can create chances on their day Prediction home win

Shrewsbury v Morecambe

Sorry Morecambe but I see the past the Shrews in this one. Could be an important game for Hurst’s boys after some poor results in the league. A good win here could push them on another run which is just what they need after losing to Bradford last time out Prediction home win

Stevenage v Swindon

Swindon’s away form has been particularly strong and I can see them having the beating of boro in this one. Stevenage have made some headway in the last few weeks with performances improving but I’m not as trusting in this Stevenage team as I was at the start of the season Prediction away win

Wimbledon v Charlton

Looking forward to this one and I’m sure it will be more entertaining than the league encounter at the Valley which was akin to watch a seminar on the history of plumbing. I think Charlton have the ability to win this as they are clearly the better team Prediction away win

Blackburn v Crewe

Can’t see Crewe getting anything here. This Blackburn team look like they will cement their place in the play-offs and could even mount a challenge on the automatics Prediction home win

Coventry v Boreham Wood

As good as Boreham Wood were in the first round I don’t see them repeating this time out. The Sky Blues were ruthless enough against Maidenhead and they should be able to repeat that in this one Prediction home win

Doncaster v Scunthorpe

I think this will result in a replay. Both sides are good going forward and Scunthorpe have been excellent in the league over the last 6 games. Doncaster are showing promise but need to believe in themselves a bit more Prediction draw

Gateshead v Luton

Gateshead are a very competitive side but never hold on to their key players. They are currently 15th in the National League and Luton top of League Two so only one winner for me here Prediction away win

Mansfield v Guiseley

Mansfield are looking so much better since they won in the first round and have a genuine ambition of making the automatic places. They will find Guiseley no pushovers after they beat Accrington in the last round but they are second bottom of the National League Prediction home win

Newport v Cambridge

Newport’s fantastic efforts at Rodney Parade have seen them genuinely in the play-off picture in League Two. Both these sides are physical so expect a battle. Prediction draw

Woking v Peterborough

Woking are FA Cup legends so the Posh will need to be very careful. The Cards were applauded off the Gigg Lane pitch after dumping League One Bury out in round one but Marriott and co are more dangerous. Prediction home win

Wycombe v Leatherhead

As much as I like an upset I can only see one winner here so the boys from Surrey will have a long afternoon. Wycombe are very good in all departments so far this season and Akinfenwa is a brilliant talisman for the Chairboys Prediction home win

Slough v Rochdale

Slough were excellent in round one but Rochdale have a lot of quality and Keith Hill will not want an upset on his hands, especially considering the league form Prediction away win

Milton Keynes is in Buckinghamshire not Bedfordshire. Franchise football is not something we talk about in Bedfordshire and even more specifically, Luton.
