As the League 1 season continues to hurtle towards it’s conclusion I’ll attempt to make some sense of it all & try to predict this weekend’s games.

BRISTOL ROVERS v SCUNTHORPE UNITED

The Gas have been in reasonably good form lately so their reverse at Wimbledon in midweek came as something of a surprise. Scunny still occupy a play-off berth but their recent form has been a little wobbly. PREDICTION HOME WIN

BURY v GILLINGHAM

Ryan Lowe’s Shakers have been showing some fight of late & although beaten at Blackburn put in a decent performance. The Gills are still well up in the form table & Lovell’s men look capable of a top half finish. PREDICTION NO SCORE DRAW

CHARLTON ATHLETIC v SHREWSBURY TOWN

Charlton’s form is on the upturn again after a decidedly dodgy run, similar to the one Hurst’s Shrews are currently on. Shrewsbury looked decidedly average in their defeat to Rotherham last weekend & a disappointing draw with Gillingham won’t have help the mood either. Massive game for both clubs in the charge for the Championship. PREDICTION HOME WIN

FLEETWOOD TOWN v MILTON KEYNES

Another vital clash, this time at the bottom of the division. Uwe Rosler paid the price for the Cod Army’s poor form with his job & MK cannot buy a win right now as they continue to struggle. PREDICTION HOME WIN

NORTHAMPTON TOWN v OXFORD UNITED

Jimmy Floyd’s Cobblers continue to blow hot & cold in their persuit of mid table security whilst the U’s could do with an upturn in form but have been unlucky in recent games. PREDICTION SCORE DRAW

OLDHAM ATHLETIC v SOUTHEND UNITED

Richie Wellens battling Latics will do well to keep Chris Powell’s ever improving Southend side at bay. Both sides need the points for differing reasons. PREDICTION AWAY WIN

PETERBOROUGH UNITED v AFC WIMBLEDON

Vital game for both sides, for Posh to try & keep up with the playoff chasers & for the Dons to get away from the bottom four. Both teams recent form hasn’t been great so I’ll sit on the fence. PREDICTION SCORE DRAW

PLYMOUTH ARGYLE v BRADFORD CITY

Derek Adams has assembled a fine side in Argyle & they are charging towards the upper echelons of the table & making a late push for the play offs. City however need to up their game significantly under new boss Simon Grayson if their promising season isn’t going to end in a damp squib. PREDICTION HOME WIN

PORTSMOUTH v BLACKPOOL

The outcome of this game really rests on which Pompey will turn up. So inconsistent it’s untrue, brilliant & rubbish in equal measure adds up to a frustrating first season back in the third tier. Fellow promoted club Pool are still embroiled in the off the field ownership issues along with fighting the drop. PREDICTION HOME WIN

ROTHERHAM UNITED v DONCASTER ROVERS

As a Millers fan personally there’s a nagging feeling in the back of my mind that things are going TOO well, unbeaten in 13 with ten wins, scoring in every one of our last 26 competitive games & the neighbours at home in a sellout next up. Rovers are having a decent enough season but the 2500 away fans at NYS will be leaving disappointed. PREDICTION HOME WIN

WALSALL v BLACKBURN ROVERS

Walsall are decent but inconsistent while Rovers are heading back to the Championship at the first attempt. PREDICTION AWAY WIN

WIGAN ATHLETIC v ROCHDALE

Battle of L1’s FA Cup heroes. Wigan will be walking on air after their astonishing victory over Citeh & will be confident in cementing their divisional leadership with victory over relegation threatened Dale who held mighty Spurs to a deserved draw at Spotland at the weekend, PREDICTION HOME WIN
